For me, wherever I go, it is important to find a peaceful place.
Sometimes the peaceful place appears in my mind.
I carry an image of one of our islands, and that helps
View from the room @ Park Village Resort, Budhanilkantha, Nepal
The quietness, the beauty, the tranquility, the calmness, the elegance -
made more serene after the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu City.
The sanctuary of the resort simply calming on your brain,
the mountains and trees as far as your eyes can see;
the smell of grass, the freshness of the green,
simply peaceful, peaceful, and peaceful!
The hustle and bustle of a main road in Mohakali, Dhaka City
drove me crazy night and day during my short stay.
An early morning stroll around the area in close vicinity
delights me with a peaceful sanctuary just a 15 minute rickshaw ride away.
Slum and glum is the living condition of the people of this are of the municipality!
But how wonderfully serene and at peace they area in their nature’s getaway.
The art of doing nothing you can master in the Maldives!
A “joali-undhoali” is all you would need to blissfully laze.
Just lie down, close your eyes and listen to the waves.
The warmth of the sun waved off by the dancing breeze.
Sheer lethargy you will feel and the time becomes your slave.
Lulled into a peaceful trance – your mind will doze and doze.
The daily struggle of juggling work and home,
unsettles the brain to a limit never known.
The overworked schedule of the full day brings gloom!
An early morning walk does wonders unknown.
The peak of the sun colouring the sky, a reddish maroon!
Most peaceful time of the day it is! And helps you bloom.

P.S. on the photo challenge:
The theme for this week [Peaceful] is just so dear to my heart;
Many a times I have had to recall my ‘peaceful place’,
To concentrate in class, to study another language. and whatever! ENJOY
P.S. on the pending list – YES! finally went to the eye specialist.

Oh my!……I see there’s an empty swing for me! I could just settle in and loll the whole day away on your beach! Your peaceful places are so full of beauty and serenity. I love the reflection in the water in Dhaka City, the palm tree sunrise in Male, the cool green mountains in Nepal, and of course, my swing that awaits me in the Maldives. I’ll be there soon.
thanks Judy for the lovey words.
And yes, please do come and join me in one of those “joali-undhoalis”
Those are just a one minute walk away from my family holiday home in a rural island.
The best time doing nothing I have there
Great collection of photos!
Thanks Fergiemoto.
I absolutely love your peaceful photo too
Your pictures are beautiful and I can imagine how peaceful the landscape must be too…
I haven’t forgotten you as I’m still catching up on blog posts I missed when I was sick…
thanks ElizOF.
I hope you have recovered fully. take care
Very Peaceful Entry my friend I love your work

what else can we associate with peaceful – that is, other than nature? almost everyone who is responding to the photo challenge is coming up with nature
I think of it too , well it`s done everyone loves peace with nature

I know laafenn. they do look inviting
I so love to just sit there and day dream.
Too bad that I don’t get to visit the place too often. It’s been over an year since my last visit.
thank you humbly for the complments on my photography
not a pro – but I try my best and more often than not I am proud of what I capture
and yes, the eye doctor gave news that my ears were happy to hear

I was dreading the doctor saying “now young lady!!! you better reduce your time in front of the computer, your sight is as bad as -5.00 …”
To my surprise it has not gone any worse than it was at my last checkup 1.5 years ago
Bless the eye doctor then! Had he said otherwise not only your ears, but I’m sure your whole body would have sulked
true, i sure would have sulked. I am big on that

and sulking does wonders for me in the department of losing weight
once in a while it’s healthy to find something to sulk about
good choice of pictures amira, really liked them alot! the last one though is the best.
I agree. the last one is very special.
To reach the other 3 peaceful places I have to either fly or cross the seas.
but the peaceful palce in the last photo is just a 5 minute walk from my home
And sunrise is sure a magical time. It reminds us more of Allah’s bountiful miracles…
Shanti, Shanti…I could feel it. Amira, your photos are lovely, esp the sunrise shot!
Yes Bindu, all those places do whisper to me “shanti, shanti” and sings sweet lullabies to my tired mind … and after a few minutes gazing at those photos and recalling the serinity of those moments, I feel relaxed

These are beautiful pics Amira!
My fav is the one in Bangladesh! What a contrast!
… And the Joali-undhoali is just awesome!
I can imagine myself just sleeping on the hummock there all day … listening to the ocean, and letting the soft wind brush my face.
And the poems that accompany these pretty pics are just lovely!!
I love these two last lines:
…The peak of the sun colouring the sky, a reddish maroon!
Most peaceful time of the day it is! And helps you bloom.
Don’t make people jealous like that!
It’s not right! …
Excellent entry as usual!
It’s getting extremely cold here.
oh thank you generous Elijah, for your lovely words
for my photography, for my words, and for my selection of peaceful scenes
And I agree with you, the one in Bangladesh was really nice. I have some more lovely photos with the locals from the slum looking very calm and content – all in a small vessel gliding across the lake looking as if they have nothing to worry.
I couldn’t help just gape and wonder how they find such serenity in their slums … i was there with a head that was going crazy with all the worries I had, the pending work that I needed to tackle…
and those people and the picture they made. the whole scene just makes one realize that we alone make our lives complicated
and oh yes… “sleeping on the hummock there all day … listening to the ocean, and letting the soft wind brush my face” thank you for those words.
that’s exactly what you will feel and do when you lie in those swing-joalis.
now I am missing the place all over again
thanks mon ami for your constant lovely comments
I wanna see more pictures!
keep coming back for more
all those pictures are so peaceful and I am sure it is the perfect choice to calm your mind when in need.
it sure is. peaceful they are and it calms my mind very much.
i actually literally carried a picture of thulushoo beach in my mind for a long time.
In one of our study skills session in Australia, we were told that going to our peaceful place was the best thing to do when we felt burdened with all the assignments and all.
And they showed us how to go our peaceful place no matter where it was.
They asked each of us to describe the most peaceful place.
And we did!
And then we were asked to close our eyes. and to take a deep breath and to go there in our minds. And for sure I went there – to the beach of Thulusdhoo (because Thulusdhoo was the most recent peaceful moment I had before going to Oz land).
and that image, the image of the thulusdhoo beach with rippling waves stayed with me for the entire duration of my studies
I do the same when ever i need to relax my mind. I havent had a good vacation for years now. But few of my favorite locations are Nuwraliya, Kandy and Fuvahmulah.
There was a time I uploaded a mp3 clip of raining sound and with thundering and I play it on bed ready to sleep. I sleep like a baby listening to that calm sound
awwwww

that sure must be a wonderful sound clip
Those photos look very peaceful and I understand why you picture them in your mind. Thanks for sharing.
thanks for the visit and comment caroline.
your peaceful place is awesome too.
now you know! I’ve started to wonder why we all have nature photos when we think about peaceful!!!
I love the last Pic Amira with the scene turning into dusk..it speaks for peace..=)
you are right John
the fiery sky really do speak for peace.
the scene coupled with the cool morning breeze plays beautiful melody
The third shot is my fav
my favorite too – time to just laze all day long…
i really am craving for a vacation now
amira,
i guess ten things wasn’t just enough for me
so i decided to go ahead and give you this award once again!
http://wp.me/p1Oy9m-cU
oh no
another 10 from me?
haven’t I said enough already?!!!
what the hell
thanks for the award i guess

i will just hog it and cheat maybe
my mind is processing what to do with it …………
wonderful assortment of photos. I, too, store peaceful place images in my mind so that i can go to those happy, peaceful places when i am stressed.
happy places – YES we need those in out head.

but at times, when in bad stress, we often times forget about those stored happy places.
we need someone or something to remind us of that
i’m hoping at least this blog post can do that for me
thanks Kate
oh the last photo Amira… just made me miss the splashes into salty water at sunrise ….much time has passed splashing into water that smells of chlorine but nothing can be more pleasing the water in the sea..yes its so peaceful
ah… i guess you are somewhere faraway from our oceanic country
be happy … but remember the ocean is waiting
do you feel the pull? whenever I am away from home, I feel a pull. not that I don’t enjoy my time overseas. I do.
But for some reason I miss this crazy place, with it’s crazy people, and crazy way of life
Ahhh, you know how peaceful the moodhu makes me!
Enjoy!
Great photos all of them…and seeing like you are trying to get peaceful…why not enjoy the One Lovely Blogger Award because you deserve a break today.

thanks for leaving a thread to follow Jo.
I just followed it and and i liKed it
wow! I wish slums here were prettier, but i guess the beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.
Amazing pics! I kinda feel you have a thing for water laden stuff
very true pakistani boy. the beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.
to come and leave a smily comment here
thanks for taking some time from your busy to-be-dentist schedule
Peaceful indeed and awesome pictures! Thanks for the share
thanks for the liking madman
These are fantastic entires for the challenge, Amira. There is no greater way to relax than with nature. It is the great teacher of it. Hammocks seem to help with that task of relaxing. It must must be the rocking. It’s a reminder of our Mother’s rocking us as babies.
Well done,
Isadora
Thanks Isadora for liking my post.
strange when I think about it..
Before this post, and before an earlier comment indicating our “joali” as hammock – I never thought of it as a hammock
anyway, yes! those hammocks are totally relaxing. and you are right it must be the rocking that does it. subconsciously we travel down our memory lane to our rocking chairs, sweet lullabies and a goodnight kiss
Wow, Beauty of nature.. I just loved all the Photos Amira
.. My Favorite One is Joali-undhoali – Maldivian way of passing time in bliss (Not in the City!)… Amazing Photography
it sure is bliss Khushbu. I so want to take a break and just enjoy joali-undhoali for a couple of days
thanks for coming by dear.
These are so beautiful Amira! I’ll go with the last one. It’s reminiscent of sunsets on Hawks Bay Beach in Karachi, Pakistan. Love the theme and what you’ve done with it.
Thanks Marilyn for the visit and the lovely comment.
sunsets and sunrise are just the most loveliest of times of the day.
And I feel pangs of jealousy everytime someone mentions Pakistan. I so so want to visit,
to experience the place.
Great pictures. Really captures the essence of “peaceful.”
thanks dear.
I just so happened to come here to find my peaceful place and I am so very ashamed to realize that I never appreciated your kind words that you left me an YEAR ago. shame on me

Amira, your words and pictures have made me feel peaceful : ) Lovely and tranquil places. I think we feel at such peace with nature because nature is so close to God.
Very true Mariyam. The best place to look for God is to look at Nature itself and we will have no doubts about the creation of the world. The beauty we see around us is just marvelous.
I want a “joali-undhoali”! And that view
sure bluebee
just hop on a plane and visit us at the Maldives
Oh. we are constantly in pursuit of peace and you are succeeding. love, Nuvana
Oh Nuvana. I am not so sure whether I am succeeding.
But maybe I have lost sight of my peaceful place. I am a confused mess right now.
