Hukuru miskiyy grave, from my lens on jan 2012 e
Under the shade of the green;
resting next to, maybe a stranger!
Maybe a friend a relative or family;
yet distanced, unreachable, alone!
To be visited by loved ones often at first;
the visits to get less often with time!
Understandable, for sure, life goes on,
“let go” they have to, at some point!
Yet, yet the thought of being let down
would be there, I think.
Maybe down there, our needs are different
down there, is a long wait, my faith tells me.
Down there, or somewhere, would be our body,
our soul maybe with the body maybe not
Life in the grave could be blessed could be not,
waiting for the end of time, for the judgement day.
The time in the grave, termed Barzakh,
we need to be ready, says our sacred text.
For that reason, we are taught to be faithful,
to not transgress, to believe in Allah and his messenger.
Whatever faith, race, gender, age, nationality, or built;
one day we are meant to leave this material world.
That day … I guess would be an eventful day;
insignificant in a way!
Down under is an inevitable day!

This weeks Weekly Photo Challenge: Down, brought me closer to the inevitable down

That is a beautiful poem and the pictures are neat. I spent my afternoon taking photos in a cemetery so it was strange when I clicked on your link… Death is universal, it eventually touches us all! Great entry!
Yes, it eventually touches us all …
the beauty of life can be seen here … if one takes the time to wonder and ponder
I love old cemeteries. Nice poetry…very meaningful. Good post for “down”.
thanks Judy.
I have been wanting to use that image for some days now.
The moment I saw “DOWN” as the theme it struck me as the most appropriate
Nice poem and good interpretation of this week’s theme
oh thank you Britten
great poem and a wonderful photo
Thank you Jo
that is one of oldest cemetries in Male’ City
nicely written with a good theme.
thank you Rafiullah
I guess that’s one thing that we need always keep close to us.
The eventuality of that day to go under … it’s bit gloomy to think like that.
but it has its beauty too
I love those grave stones
well expressed through words
thanks for the nice words Amar
Down under is inevitable indeed!
Nice poem! And the pics are awesome!
thanks for the awesomely short comment mon ami
sounds very busy
I know, right!
.. Been busy with tax and other errands … as you may know it’s a tax season around here.
But am done with it now.
ah tax … those forms !!
know what!!! here in maldives, we are embracing tax system only now … so,
so far not much of a form to be filled by civilians.
but my time in oz land was a good experience with the numerous forms
and endless formalities of that. but the effort was worthwhile.
Unique take on the challenge Amira! Very fitting as well.
thanks margie
I have been wanting to use those photos for a few weeks now..
this was the perfect theme for it
Creative use of the prompt, beautiful photos and poem.
very humbled with the nice words
thanks Judee
It sure is, Amira
there is such beauty in cemetries and remembering that death is as close as our breath. live today to the best
aik din mitti ho jana ha
yeah one day we all have to start eternal journey in the darkness,
great post ,JazAK ALLAH !
AND photo suits the poetry
hasthey hasthey hushee hushee aur sab key pyar key saath vahaathak jaaneymey tho bohuth mazaa aaeygee.
jio dil koalkey, with kindsness, with repect to each and every human being, remember that we are humans, there is a an end to us sooner or later
live for today and hereafter
Loved your interpretation of the theme…every living being ends up “down under” eventually
Thank you Ash
for the liking, for the visit and for the comment
Amira I thought the title ‘Down Under’ is about a diving experience
I’m not disappointed that it’s not. Great post!
‘down under’ to me really is australia

but the title sounded appropriate for the photo and what I had to say
thanks for the comment…
and you are one lucky maldivian to be away from this crazy place we call our home
Beautiful poem, with beautiful pictures. Great job with this week’s challenge.
thank you Arindam for the nice words
for the visit and leaving a thread to follow to your awesome post
Your words Amira, “Whatever faith, race, gender, age, nationality, or built;
one day we are meant to leave this material world… ” is a good reminder to stop our selfish ways and get things done before it’s too late!
Love this post!
yes sunshine … we need to let go of selfishness . we need to be kind. we need to work on important things. this might be the last minute we get to say what we want.
i want to say thank you all, my lovely blogger mates. you make me so happy with your lovely comments.
may peace be ever present among us
Down under is inevitable …It sure is, unless one chooses cremation. Thoughtful post Amira!
yeah ElizOf down under except for those who chooses cremation.
But even the ashes spread heavenwards, will at some point settle down on the surface of earth and get mixed with the sand or the ocean. so technically downunder does apply to some extent
thanks for the lovely comment
Lovely poem Amira…and very coupled with the pictures. Together, they are quite spell binding…makes you think about death…humbles you down…has a very lingering effect. keep the good words flowing
Tank you ashkitty.
the thought of death surely humbles us humans down.
we should remember it more often.
thanks for liking it and for commenting. much appreciated
no need for the Thanks Amira…you deserve the praise and appreciation
